Welcome to South Australia
IGA Supermarkets – Serving the Community
IGA (Independent Grocers of Australia) stores are 100% independently owned and in most cases the owner is very much a part of the local community, your community, not some faceless multi-national. So every time you choose to shop at IGA you are supporting South Australians.
All IGA store owners are committed to promoting local produce, friendly service, value for money, credibility and integrity.
IGA retailers are strongly focussed on community involvement, ranging from product donations to local schools, sporting clubs etc to hosting golf days as means of raising funds for local projects.
They also actively promote and participate in the IGA Community Chest program. Every single IGA channel* store collects 1¢ from the sale of every IGA branded product, as well as a portion of other selected lines during our Community Chest weeks, throughout the year.
At the end of the year, your IGA donates the money in the Community Chest fund back into charities and other beneficiaries in your local community. Last year, cheques totalling over $60,000 were issued to local beneficiaries throughout South Australia, not including donations made directly by stores.
This year alone, IGA retailers in South Australia, via the Community Chest fund, have donated $10,000 to the Royal Flying Doctors Service and $5,000 to the Variety Club.
South Australian IGA retailers have also provided financial assistance to the communities in Queensland who were devastated earlier this year by Cyclone Larry.
Help support the stores that support your local communities – shop IGA.
